Ross Stores, Inc. has chosen Waller County to build a distribution facility that will be more than 2 million square feet and once fully operational will create approximately 1,300 full time jobs.
By comparison, this facility will be twice the size of the Amazon Fulfillment Center which opened in January 2018. It marks two recent major success stories for the Waller County Economic Development Partnership which negotiated both deals.
Ross' massive complex will be located about a mile south of Interstate 10 just across from the Uplands at Twinwood Business Park which is southeast of Brookshire between Woods Road and FM 1489.
Waller County Commissioners’ Court recently approved an incentive deal that lured the off-price apparel and home fashion retailer to Waller County. The project was the culmination of an effort on behalf of Ross officials, Waller County, and the Waller County Road Improvement District #1 that took a little more than a year to complete.
Critical to the success of the project was participation by the Waller County Road Improvement District #1.
Ross officials entered into a road reimbursement deal with the District that will allow the final leg of Kingsland Boulevard to be completed between Jordan Ranch Rd. and Woods Rd. In addition, there will be improvements to Woods Rd. to accommodate the new truck traffic. Details on the Woods Rd. improvements are still being finalized.
