Port City Logistics Announces Major Expansion in Port Wentworth; $80 Million Investment

Port City Logistics, one of Savannah’s leading third party logistics (3PL) companies, has announced the expansion of their operations in Chatham County, creating 200 new job opportunities and investing $80 million for the construction of a new headquarters and warehouse facility at 5816 Highway 21 in Port Wentworth.

With the expansion, Port City Logistics expects to handle an additional 50,400 TEUS through the Port of Savannah annually to help meet the needs of customers of the growing Port of Savannah.

According to Billy Robinson, Chairman of Port City Logistics, “We feel proud, excited and extremely blessed to be able to partner with Peter Stravinski, Steve Brock, and the entire Stravinski Capital Management team on this incredible site in Port Wentworth. We believe strongly in the future of the Georgia Ports Authority and this facility shows our commitment to make this the best major port gateway in the U.S.”

Eric Howell, Chief Executive Officer of Port City Logistics said, “Being a few hundred yards from the GPA Garden City Terminal gates makes this an ideal property to serve Savannah and the Southeast. The supply chain landscape, especially e-commerce, is changing faster than ever, and this 1.1 million square foot facility gives us the agility to service any need. Our company’s purpose is to ‘Pursue Excellence’ in everything that we do, and this new distribution center takes us another step toward achieving that goal.”

Port City Logistics was founded in 2001 in Savannah, a full-service logistics company that provides warehousing, rrayage and over the road trucking as well as brokerage transportation solutions to a highly diversified customer base. Today, PCL operates nine distribution centers within a 10-mile radius of the GPA including Foreign-Trade Zone, Customs Bonded, Food-Grade and e-commerce specializations.

“I would like to thank our economic development partners for supporting Port City Logistics’ growth and success,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson. “Recent events have again proven why our state’s strong logistics infrastructure is so critical to the nation and to our global partners. I am grateful to Port City Logistics for continuing to invest in our state’s exceptional logistics network and creating jobs and opportunities for folks in the Savannah area.”

Savannah Economic Development Authority President and CEO Trip Tollison said, “We would like to congratulate Billy, Eric and the entire Port City Logistics team for choosing Savannah to expand their business and hire 200 new employees. We are well aware that Port City reviewed options in competing states, and we are thankful that they chose Chatham County. Projects like these are particularly exciting because we get to assist home grown companies as they grow and invest more in our community. We have been with Port City from the beginning and will continue to be one of their greatest champions for decades to come,”

“Congratulations to Billy Robinson and the entire Port City Logistics team,” said GPA’s Executive Director Griff Lynch. “This is not only a great win for a local businessman and longtime friend of our ports, but the addition of more than a million square feet of warehouse space will provide our customers greater flexibility and increased capacity to grow cargo volumes.”

Peter Stravinski, President of Stravinski Capital Management, added, “We are pleased to be partnering with PCL, one of the most respected, growing, and professional 3PL providers in Savannah and the Southeast.”

The facility is expected to be completed over the next 18 months.
