Etsy offers shoppers AR-based digital ‘home’ shopping experience

There is no doubt that Augmented Reality (AR) is revolutionising retail. So many retailers are embracing the power of AI to allow customers to connect to products quickly. The faster customers connect and visualise the product, the faster they will buy. Etsy has embraced this with their new technology offering.

The new Etsy app allows you to visualise 5M paintings, photos and prints. Etsy Chief Product Officer Kruti Patel Goyal announced in their ‘Beta’ launch, the iOs app bring to life 5m artworks direct to everyone’s phone. All you do is start the app and it will place the artwork over your live view of your room. The idea is to start with artwork and then move to other categories.

Coresight research report predicted that the global reality technology market, which includes AR and VR, could grow to $18.8 billion in 2020. This is a good move from Etsy.
