Gwinnett County commissioners voted on Tuesday to approve an agreement with Trinity DT LLC for the redevelopment of a former Furniture property within the Gwinnett Place Tax Allocation District.

A developer working on turning an old furniture store into a Tesla distribution center near Duluth is getting millions of dollars in tax incentives to help pay for it.

“Last year, we received an application to use TAD funds to support a Tesla distribution center that will serve the north Georgia region,” Gwinnett County Planning and Zoning Director Matt Dickison told commissioners on Tuesday.

The agreement states Trinity DT will receive up to $5.2 million in tax allocation district revenues generated by the redevelopment for up to 15 years with the understanding that the money will be used to defray redevelopment costs.

The new Tesla distribution center will be located at 3380 Satellite Boulevard.
