AutoStore Loses Bid to Challenge Ocado Robot Warehouse Patent

AutoStore failed to persuade the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board to take a second look at an Ocado patent for a robotic warehouse system.

  • AutoStore had to show that it had a “reasonable likelihood” of winning its argument that at least part of Ocado patent 9,796,080 shouldn’t have been issued, and it didn’t meet that threshold, the review board said

  • Ocado said its patent is for a system that stores both delivery and storage containers, and thus “generates efficiencies and conserves resources, including floor space and robotic load handlers”
