Sephora launches same-day delivery via Instacart

A leading specialty beauty retailer is the latest non-grocer to collaborate with Instacart for same-day online delivery.

Shoppers can now get their favorite lipstick or other beauty items from Sephora delivered through a new partnership between the beauty giant and Instacart that offers same-day delivery in as fast as an hour from nearly all Sephora store locations across North America. Beginning Sept. 24, Sephora is available on the Instacart marketplace in select store locations in California and Canada. The program will expand to more than 400 stores over the coming weeks, offering assortment of beauty and wellness products at same price as in-store.

An increasing number of retailers outside of Instacart’s core grocery/CPG vertical have been partnering with the platform to provide same-day online delivery as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Office supply retailer Staples and closeout retailer Big Lots both launched delivery offerings with Instacart in June.

As part of the new partnership, customers will also be able to access select promotions from Sephora’s Beauty Insider loyalty program and earn points on every Sephora order placed on the Instacart marketplace. Instacart has also developed a new consumer shopping design that makes it easier for Sephora customers to seamlessly browse and shop from Sephora’s assortment and quickly find a personalized color through a new, one-click shade selector.

Customers can begin shopping from Sephora on Instacart by visiting the dedicated Sephora page on the U.S. and Canadian Instacart sites or by downloading the Instacart app on their mobile device. Customers then enter their ZIP code, select Sephora’s storefront, and can begin adding beauty and wellness products to their Instacart cart. For all orders, an Instacart personal shopper will pick and deliver the order within the customer’s designated time frame – whether they choose to receive it same-day or schedule their delivery days in advance.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Instacart and continue to provide an innovative and seamless shopping experience for our clients,” said Carolyn Bojanowski, senior VP and GM of e-commerce for Sephora. “We’re always looking for unique, yet practical ways to meet our clients at every touchpoint; and now more than ever, we know they seek ease and convenience. With our Instacart partnership, we can offer a new same-day delivery service option to our existing clients, and also introduce some of the benefits of being a Sephora client to Instacart’s marketplace.”

“Instacart has become part of the household rhythm for people across North America looking to have the groceries and goods they need delivered same-day from the retailers they know and love. For many people, the essentials they need go beyond fresh food and pantry staples and, over the last few years, we’ve seen an increase in customer demand for personal care, wellness and beauty products,” said Chris Rogers, VP of retail at Instacart.
