Walmart Announces a New Black Friday Experience This Year

Fall just arrived, but Walmart is already planning ahead for the holidays. The unofficial start of the holiday shopping season, Black Friday at the big box retailer typically draws long lines and enormous crowds. While its customers can still expect major savings, Walmart's Black Friday is going to look a lot different this year due to the global pandemic.

On Wednesday, Walmart announced that it's "promising an all-new Black Friday experience." As opposed to one day of incredible deals, Walmart plans to spread traditional Black Friday savings throughout the holiday season. Plus, more deals will be available online this year, so customers will be able to shop from the comfort of their homes

We’ve heard from our customers that many plan on starting their holiday shopping well before Black Friday and that they’re looking for gifts that fit their current lifestyle. So, we’ve adjusted our strategy to adapt to these new shopping preferences–we’re offering more of what they want now, earlier than ever, and all at the best prices.
— Scott McCall, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Walmart U.S.

To prepare for Black Friday and the rest of the holiday season, Walmart says that it has increased its inventory in electronics, kitchen appliances, toys, and more. Plus, the retailer says that it will have 800 Walmart-exclusives for the holidays.

Full details on the new Black Friday experience haven't been released just yet, but we'll be sure to keep you posted as they become available.
