77% of Shoppers Want to Track Packages: Speed and Transparency Shape E-Commerce Expectations
Speed and transparency are must-haves, with 43% expecting 2-3 day delivery and 77% tracking packages daily
New survey data from Plus One Robotics highlights a growing frustration among American shoppers during the holiday season. A whopping 75% of consumers said delivery delays hurt their holiday experience, and 12% said late packages completely ruin the celebrations.
Speed and transparency are top priorities for shoppers. Nearly half (43%) of consumers expect packages to arrive within 2-3 days, even during the holiday rush, and 77% of people track their packages daily.
“With three-quarters of consumers reporting that delivery delays impact their holiday experience, it's clear that reliable logistics automation solutions are essential for meeting customer expectations during holiday seasons,” said Erik Nieves, Founder and CEO of Plus One Robotic.
Shoppers also demand upfront information, with 82% calling it “extremely important” to see a delivery date before checking out. Gender and age differences also surfaced. More women (42%) than men (36%) said they’d skip buying a $50 gift if shipping wasn’t free. Millennials were the most eager trackers, with 45% checking multiple times daily.
Amazon remains the clear favorite for holiday deliveries, trusted by 83% of consumers. Target and Walmart came in next at 59%, but the gap shows how top-notch logistics give Amazon a major edge during the holidays.
As holiday pressures rise, the message is clear: consumers expect fast, reliable, and transparent shipping. Retailers that can’t keep up risk losing more than just sales—they’ll lose customer trust.
