GreenBox Brings $144 Million AI-Powered Logistics Warehouse to Georgia

A joint venture looking to revolutionize distribution services through artificial intelligence and robotics announced Wednesday that its first automated facility will be located in Georgia.

GreenBox Systems LLC, a company that provides automated warehouse services, will invest $144 million in a new facility in Jackson, Georgia. The project is expected to create more than 300 jobs in Butts County.

Governor Brian Kemp announced the investment today, highlighting Georgia's appeal to innovative companies. “Georgia continues to attract job creators, and we're proud that GreenBox is joining that list,” Kemp said. “Our state’s workforce development programs and strong partnerships help bring new opportunities to communities across Georgia.”

The new distribution center, located at The Cubes at RiverPark in Jackson, will span approximately 1 million square feet. It will use automation and artificial intelligence (AI) to handle logistics for retailers across the region. Job roles will include automation operators, forklift drivers, material handlers, logistics coordinators, and maintenance technicians. Operations are expected to begin by late 2025, with job postings available at GreenBox Careers.

Georgia has emerged as a significant testing ground for warehouse robotics and AI technology. Gov. Brian Kemp said the project expands Georgia’s roster of “innovative job creators” by establishing a roughly 1-million-square-foot facility in Jackson.

The automated distribution center will be located at the Cubes at RiverPark, an industrial project along I-75 built by CRG and Heitman. The developers have several other similarly branded industrial parks across the country, including nearby Locust Grove in Henry County.

Vikas J. Parekh, Managing Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers, expressed excitement about bringing AI-powered warehouse services to Georgia. “We’re grateful for the support from Governor Kemp and look forward to creating jobs and improving the supply chain efficiency for consumers,” said Parekh, a Georgia Tech alum. “Georgia’s innovative environment is a big reason we’re here.”

GreenBox’s facility will use Symbotic Inc.’s advanced automation technology, including robotics and AI, to improve supply chain efficiency and accuracy. The company’s goal is to transform retail logistics with highly automated and scalable distribution centers.

Russ Crumbley, Chairman of the Butts County Board of Commissioners, emphasized the community's efforts to attract high-quality businesses. “GreenBox’s investment shows that Butts County is becoming a hub for innovative industries,” he said.

Katie Kirkpatrick, CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, also welcomed GreenBox’s decision to move to the area. “These types of jobs will continue to fuel the region’s talent advantage,” she said. “We look forward to GreenBox’s long-term success.”

The project was supported by the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD), Georgia Quick Start, Georgia Power, and the Metro Atlanta Chamber.

GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson noted that the partnership between GreenBox and Georgia highlights the growing role of AI in logistics. “This project is creating skilled jobs and driving innovation in the logistics industry,” he said.
